This project will collaboratively explore worker engagement systems in the seafood sector across five countries in Asia to identify insights and strategies for improving these mechanisms – ultimately to promote worker's voices and uphold their rights.
The Certification and Ratings Collaboration, an alliance between five global seafood certification and ratings programs, will join forces with human and labour rights-focused organisations in this project to conduct desk and field-based research across five countries in Asia.
Findings from this research will inform context-specific recommendations for sustainability systems and businesses to improve support for seafood workers, including processes for grievance and remediation. Insights from this work will be relevant across commodities, wherever practices and standards can be improved through more effective worker engagement.
