This project explores ways to improve the remediation options offered to adolescent workers (under the age of 18 years old) by piloting innovative approaches in textile assembly supply chains and assessing their replicability in other sustainability systems.
Once identified by labour inspectors and removed from the workplace, adolescent workers have very limited remediation options. They are above mandatory age for school, and often need to earn an income for their families. The lack of suitable pathways that offer skill-building compatible with safe working conditions puts them at a high risk of re-entering exploitative work. This project pilots new remediation interventions - such as vocational training and job placement opportunities - on select cases of child labour identified by GoodWeave inspectors in textile assembly supply chains in India and Nepal.
