This project prototypes and pilots an approach and process to strengthen direct, meaningful dialogue between brands or retailers with rightsholder groups, facilitated by a sustainability scheme.
While global supply chains can offer opportunities for economic and social development, they also present serious human rights risks that companies often fail to prevent, mitigate and remediate effectively. To address these risks, it is crucial for companies to achieve dialogue and concrete collaboration among supply chain actors about critical human rights and environmental issues. This project advances meaningful rightsholder engagement and encourages discussion among ISEAL members about the role that sustainability systems can play in facilitating dialogue and engagement.
